Men of NDG Walk 1 mile walk in Red Heels to Help Auberge Transition

MONTREAL, JULY 4, 2018 – On July 14, Royal LePage Village, a real estate agency located in
Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, will host its 4th consecutive Walk a Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser to the
benefit of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation, Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated
exclusively to funding women’s shelters and violence prevention programs. 100% of the
proceeds will then be distributed to Auberge Transition, a local NDG women’s shelter that helps
transition women out of intolerable domestic situation to leading healthier, safer lives for
themselves and their children.
A group of men of NDG, members of the community and of Auberge Transition will take a 1 mile
hike in 4 inch pumps along Monkland Avenue to shine a light on the need to raise funds and
awareness for women and children living with abuse and domestic violence.
In 2017, over 80 walkers proudly accompanied a group of 40 men to show support. This year,
participation is expected to double. “As real estate brokers, we assist people with the means to
achieve their housing goals. This is for those who don’t have the means and yet have the need,”
commented Georges Gaucher, General Manager, Royal LePage Village.
The annual event provides the community an opportunity to get together and give back. “Making
a difference, showing compassion and educating the community have been the reward of our
18 year relationship with the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation,” said Irene Jansson, Director,
Auberge Transition.

About the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation
The Royal LePage Shelter Foundation is Canada’s largest public foundation dedicated
exclusively to funding women’s shelters and ending violence against women and
children. Through agent commission donations and the fundraising activities of the Royal
LePage network, the foundation has raised more than $27 million to help provide a safe haven
and new beginnings for more than 50,000 women and children every year. To break the cycle of
violence, the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation also supports violence prevention and
education programs. All funds raised by Royal LePage offices remain in their local community
and because Royal LePage covers all administrative costs, 100 per cent of all money and effort
goes toward this important cause.
